Amadeus’s University Amizi seeks an experienced and professionally qualified Senior Accountant to support the financial management and reporting functions of the University.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to sound financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and periodic financial reports
Oversee the maintenance of the University’s general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting entries
Manage the University’s payroll processing, payments, and reconciliations
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax obligations, and institutional accounting policies
Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and monitor budget performance throughout the financial year
Assist in the management of audits (internal and external) and liaise with auditors as required
Review and approve financial transactions in accordance with the University’s financial control framework
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Provide financial analysis and advisory support to management on financial matters
Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions and ensure records are audit-ready.
Job Requirements
A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Accounting from a recognised university
Professional accounting qualification from a recognised body is required — acceptable qualifications include: ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant — ICAEW), ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria), or ANAN (Association of National Accountants of Nigeria)
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant post-qualification work experience in an accounting or finance role
NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate is mandatory
Computer literacy is mandatory; proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics
Key Skills:
Financial reporting and management accounting
General ledger management and reconciliation
Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Tax compliance and regulatory reporting
Accounting software proficiency (Sage, QuickBooks, or equivalent)
Microsoft Excel (advanced) and Office Suite
